Energiefonds Overijssel, one of the funds under the management of StartGreen Capital, has issued a loan of €6 million to the Deventer housing association Rentree. With this loan, Rentree can make 124 homes in the Burgersdijk district more sustainable, moving them from energy label C to label A+.

Thorough approach

Rentree will address both the exterior and interior of the homes. Inside the homes, Rentree is replacing the heating systems with hybrid heat pumps or central heating boilers and insulating the facade, roof, windows, and doors. Furthermore, ventilation will be improved and asbestos removal will take place. The work will commence in September 2023. As a result of the sustainability measures, tenants will not only benefit from lower energy costs but also significantly increased living comfort.

The role of Energiefonds Overijssel

Because making real estate more sustainable results in significant energy savings, it contributes to the energy transition in the province. For this reason, Energiefonds Overijssel has issued this loan to Rentree, enabling them to finance the sustainability improvements at a low interest rate. This leaves more capital available for Rentree to make other homes in its portfolio more sustainable.

Impact in figures

The sustainability upgrade of the homes in Burgersdijk will result in an annual saving of 5 TJ. In addition, the sustainability measures will lead to a CO2 reduction of 197 tonnes of emissions. The project also creates 36 FTE of temporary jobs.
