Energiefonds Overijssel, one of the funds under the management of StartGreen Capital, (co-)financiers the construction of a large solar park near Almelo with a loan of twenty million euros. The power sustainably generated by the park will be purchased over the next 10 years by Allego. This Dutch charging station operator will use the green electricity to charge its customers’ cars, thereby actively contributing to the reduction of CO2 emissions in traffic.
70,000 solar panels
Klimaatfonds Nederland is building, managing, and (co-)financing Solar Park Aadijk II in Almelo. In an area of 62 hectares, 47 hectares will be covered with solar panels: approximately 70,000 units. Around the solar park, another 13 hectares of nature strips will be created. Solar Park Aadijk II will generate approximately 43,000 Megawatt hours of sustainable electricity every year.
Guaranteed purchase
The unique aspect of this project is that all sustainable electricity for the next 10 years will be purchased at a fixed price by Allego. This is arranged in a so-called CPPA (Corporate Power Purchase Agreement). With this purchase contract, Allego secures green electricity from Solar Park Aadijk II. As soon as the park starts delivering power, Allego can fully charge approximately 2,000 electric cars every day with green electricity via its charging stations.
